The adsorption of heavy metal by soils has importance in determining of metal movement within the soil profile and their availability to the plant. Mechanisms of zinc retention and the effect of soil pH, macrocations, organic and inorganic ligands are of interest in this issue. Disposal of wastes such as municipal compost, waste incinerator slag and sewage sludge is a significant source of Zn applica-tion to land. One of the practical problems of this issue is to obtain information for the modeling<br \/>\nof zinc behavior in \u00abwater \u2013 rock\u00bb interaction and contamination of aquifer. It is then important to assess what specific factors are relevant in leaching behavior Zn.
