Founders and first directors: L. A. Schlossberg, A. I. Yakovlev, D. I. Ulianov.<br \/>\n 1927 \u2013 The SSL becomes the Central library for specialists of industry.<br \/>\n 1946 \u2013 In accordance with the Government\u2019s resolution the SSL is assigned to the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR to meet the information needs of researchers and engineers  of the State ministries, agencies, establishments and enterprises.<br \/>\n 1948 \u2013 The SSL becomes a recipient of non-chargeable legal deposit copy of printed editions, published in the USSR (supplied by the All-Union Book Chamber).<br \/>\n 1958 \u2013 The USSR Soviet of Ministers issues the Decree on assignment of the SSL to the Siberian Branch  of  the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (Novosibirsk); the name \u201cSSL\u201d is changed for the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the SB AS of the USSR (SPSTL SB AS USSR).<br \/>\n 1961 \u2013 construction of the Library building started in Novosibirsk.<br \/>\n 1963 \u2013 The SPSTL opens Higher library courses for librarians with secondary higher education.<br \/>\n 1966 \u2013 The new Library building is opened for readers (see picture of the Main Building).<br \/>\n 1967 \u2013 The SPSTL opens correspondence post-graduate courses on specialities: library science, bibliography and bibliology.<br \/>\n 1968 \u2013 The All-Union Book Chamber begins to supply the SPSTL with complete set of free legal deposit copy of printed editions.<br \/>\n 1969 \u2013 The SPSTL is appointed the Regional Center of Interlibrary book exchange (IBE) for Siberian and the Far Eastern libraries.<br \/>\n     The SPSTL is entrusted with functions:<br \/>\n1973 \u2013 of  the depository of dissertations defended in research institutions of the SB AS of the USSR,<br \/>\n 1975 \u2013 \u2026 and of the Regional Depository.<br \/>\n 1980 \u2013 The SPSTL gets down to developing a program of automation of library and bibliographic processes.<br \/>\n 1982 \u2013 The SB AS of the USSR begins working out its automated system of science and technical information.<br \/>\n 1983 \u2013 The SPSTL opens full-time post-graduate courses on specialities: library science, bibliography and bibliology.<br \/>\n 1984 \u2013 By the decree of the Presidium of the SB AS of the USSR the SPSTL is confirmed  the center of scientific and technical information of the SB AS of the USSR.<br \/>\n 1989 \u2013 Kemerovo  State Academy of Culture and Arts (from 2004 \u2013 Kemerovo State University of Culture and Arts) opens its correspondence department in the SPSTL SB RAS.<br \/>\n 1991 \u2013 The SPSTL SB RAS accepts a representative office of the German publishing house \u201cSpringer Verlag\u201d.<br \/>\n 1994 \u2013 The SPSTL SB RAS becomes the representative of the Leipzig Book Fair in Siberia.<br \/>\n 1995 \u2013 In the SPSTL SB RAS a Dissertation Council is organized to promote defending of candidates\u2019 dissertations on specialities:<br \/>\n05.25.03 &#8211; &#8220;Library science and Scientific bibliography&#8221; (educational sciences),<br \/>\n05.25.04 &#8211; &#8220;Bibliology&#8221; (historical sciences),<br \/>\n05.25.05 &#8211; &#8220;Information systems and processes&#8221; (engineering sciences). <\/p>\n<p>  1996 \u2013 The SPSTL  for the first time celebrates the All-Russian Day of Libraries.<br \/>\n 1996 \u2013 The SPSTL\u2019s post-graduate courses are supplemented with speciality \u201cInformation systems and processes\u201d.<br \/>\n 1997 \u2013 Internet-class is opened in the SPSTL SB RAS.<br \/>\n 1997 \u2013 The SPSTL begins rendering services in the PSI [Personal Supply with Information]-mode on the problem &#8220;Sustainable development&#8221;.<br \/>\n 1998 \u2013 On the basis of the SPSTL  SB RAS the Siberian regional library center for continuous education is founded.<br \/>\n 1998 \u2013 The SPSTL SB RAS obtains the Certificate of State Accreditation  \u2116 421.<br \/>\n 1999 \u2013 Licence is obtained for carrying on educational activities in professional sphere (post-graduate courses).<br \/>\n 2000 \u2013  Licence is obtained for carrying on educational activities in the sphere of additional vocation training.<br \/>\n 2000 \u2013 The Higher Certifying Commission (HCC) reconfirmed the SPSTL\u2019s Dissertation Council on defending candidate\u2019s dissertations in speciality 05.25.03 &#8220;Library science, Scientific bibliography and Bibliology&#8221; (educational sciences, historical sciences). <\/p>\n<p> 2001 \u2013 The SPSTL obtained licence for publishing activities.<br \/>\n 2001 \u2013 The newly edited version of the SPSTL\u2019s Charter is adopted.<br \/>\n 2001  \u2013 The first issue of \u201cThe SPSTL\u2019s News\u201d appeared.<br \/>\n 2002  \u2013 Implementation of \u201cIRBIS\u201d started.<br \/>\n 2003 \u2013 The SPSTL SB RAS initialized  opening a department  \u201cLibrary and Information Technologies\u201d (speciality 05.27.00) in Novosibirsk State Pedagogic University.<br \/>\n 2004 \u2013 (May 17\u201323) \u2013 The IX Annual conference of the Russian Library Association took place in Novosibirsk; the SPSTL acted as its organizer and active participant.<br \/>\n2004  \u2013 The SPSTL\u2019s Branch moved to a new building.<br \/>\n 2005 \u2013 The concept of the electronic library of the SPSTL SB RAS appeared; electronic libraries of memorial funds of academicians V. A. Koptiug and N. N. Yanenko were created.<br \/>\n 2005 \u2013 The beginning of publication of \u201cBibliosphere\u201d, a journal dealing with problems of library science, bibliographical science, bibliology and information science .<br \/>\n 2006  \u2013 A complex of the SPSTL\u2019s editions on librarianship won the contest, organized by \u201cSiberian Fair\u201d, and was decorated with a gold medal.<br \/>\n 2006 \u2013 The 5th volume of the collective monograph \u201cEssays of the history of book culture of Siberia and the Far East\u201d was published, concluding the 5-volumed work of the SPSTL\u2019s laboratory of bibliology.<br \/>\n 2007  (May 24) \u2013 The SPSTL\u2019s Branch arranged a \u201cround table\u201d under the motto \u201cLibraries of the Novisibirsk academic center \u2013 50 years of work for science\u201d, devoted to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the SB RAS and the All-Russian Day of libraries.<br \/>\n 2008 (October 6\u201310) \u2013 An inter-regional scientific and practical conference \u201cThe SPSTL\u2019s role in the development of information and library services in the region\u201d was conducted in the SPSTL , devoted to the 90th anniversary of the SPSTL and the 50th anniversary  of its joining the SB","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Concise Historical Information 1918 \u2013 Organization of the State Scientific library (SSL) of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of National economy (Moscow).
